
Important: To access the "MASTER CONTROLS" to create
or change settings for any schedule, you must be online. Also note, any "time limits" set for your child's use of Instant Messenger now apply to the use of MySpace as well!
How to ACCESS the "Parent's
MASTER CONTROLS Menu":
RIGHT-click on the small
icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Now left-click on "Parent Controls", enter your email address and the special "parent password" that you received earlier upon program installation… and click "OK".
The "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu" will now
appear within your web browser.
Note: If the small
icon does NOT appear in the lower right of your
screen, then click: Start / Programs
/ I.M. Control / Parent Controls...
and the "MASTER CONTROLS" login screen will appear!
How to SET UP "Instant Messenger"
Scheduling:
Go to the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu" (per above), and click "Add Child to Program". Fill in your child's first name and a simple password (for the child to remember later). Then select the SPECIFIC HOURS as well as the TOTAL MINUTES per day that your child will be allowed to use "Instant Messenger or Myspace", for each day of the week. Then click the "OK" button at the bottom of the screen. Now your child's schedule for access to "Instant Messenger or MySpace" is all set!
(Use the same procedure to set up "Instant
Messenger" scheduling for each additional child.)
*It’s a great idea to PRINT your child’s “IM schedule” and post it near the computer for easy reference. (See below.)
How to PRINT an "Instant Messenger"
Schedule:
From the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu", click "Change/Print Child's Schedule". Then select the child's name up top, and click the "Print Schedule" button (in the lower left) to produce a colorful printout of your child's allowable "I.M. schedule".
How to CHANGE a Child's
Current Schedule: From the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu", click "Change/Print Child’s Schedule". Then select the child's name up top, adjust the schedule as desired, click the "OK" button at the bottom of the screen… and your child's NEW "IM schedule” is set. (You may also PRINT your child’s schedule by clicking the “Print Schedule” button in the lower left.)
How to CHANGE a Parent or
Child "Password":
From the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS
Menu", click either the "Change Parent's Password" or
"Change Child's Password" button. Then follow the simple
instructions to change the password.
It is recommended that you change your “Parent Password” from the one originally supplied. Just be sure to keep it in a safe and private place.
How to Add BONUS TIME to
a Child's Schedule:
From the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu", click "Add Bonus
Time". Then select the child's name up top, and enter
the number of BONUS minutes to be added to the
child's "Instant Messenger" schedule, and click "OK".
These extra minutes apply to the current day only!
How to BLOCK ALL ACCESS
to "Instant Messenger":
From the "Parent's
MASTER CONTROLS Menu", click the "BLOCK ALL Access to
Instant Messenger" button (on the left), and all access
to Instant Messenger for ALL users will be blocked...
until you click the "Restore Scheduled Access to Instant
Messenger" button, to return to normal scheduling.
(You can also block Instant Messenger use for any ONE child
individually, by checking the "Block all access" box at the
bottom of that child's Scheduling Screen.)
How to RETRIEVE a Lost "Parent
Password":
It's important that you save your special "Parent Password"
in a SAFE place, where you will remember to look if needed,
inaccessible to your children. But if you do lose your
"Parent Password", simply email us at: TechServ@Imcontrol.net
with the buyer's name, registration code
and the last 4 digits of the credit card number
applicable to the original
purchase of the software. If the above information is complete and
accurate, we will email you a temporary new Password to
allow you access to the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu",
from which you can change your "Parent Password" as desired.

section of the "I.M. Control" website, which may provide
just what you need. Otherwise, you may email Technical
Service directly at: TechServ@IMcontrol.net,
and expect a reply within 24 hours. To receive FREE technical
support, you must be able to provide the buyer's name
and registration code applicable to the original
purchase of the software.
How to LOG ON
to "Instant Messenger":
First: Be sure that you’re online!
Second: Double-click the bright
yellow "clock icon"
on your desktop, and a special "Instant Messenger LOGIN
Screen" will appear.
Third: Enter your first
name and the password (that your Mom or Dad
gave you), and click "OK". The big white "I.M. Control
Reminder box" will appear in the lower right of the monitor,
and your "I.M. TIMER" has started! Now you're ready
to sign on to "Instant Messenger".
Fourth: Sign on to "Instant
Messenger" in the usual manner.
How to LOG OFF
of "Instant Messenger":
First: Click "I'M
DONE!" in the big white "I.M. Control Reminder
box", which turns OFF your "I.M. TIMER"!
Second: Sign off of "Instant
Messenger" in the usual manner.
How to KEEP TRACK of Remaining Time Allowed:
Whenever you're on "Instant Messenger", simply put your mouse on top of
the small
icon in the lower right of your monitor, and you'll see
how many minutes you've got left. Also, once your time
begins to run out, your computer will automatically
announce the remaining minutes!
