1. What is the main
purpose of the "I.M. Control" program? To CONTROL THE TIME your kids spend on Instant Messenger (and now MySpace as well), leaving them more time to do more "productive" things... like homework and enjoying the company of family and friends, in person!!
2.
Does "I.M. Control" allow me to set individual "Instant
Messenger" (and MySpace) time limits for each of my kids? Yes!
You can set up a "separate" schedule as appropriate for each child, so
you'll have complete and individualized control of Instant Messenger and MySpace use for everyone!
3. Will
"I.M. Control" also restrict access to websites, or use
of regular email? "I.M. Control" is specially
designed to control the use of "Instant Messenger", but
will not interfere with your child's access to appropriate
websites or use of email, which may be needed for homework
or other productive purposes.
4. Is
it easy for my kids to use "I.M. Control"?
They'll hardly know it's there. You set the time limits,
and the computer does all the rest. It works as easily
for kids of all ages… from 8 to 18.
5. Can
I change my kids' "Instant Messenger" (and MySpace) scheduling if needed?
Yes, whenever you want! Just go the "Parents Master Controls
Menu" (using your master password) and update any schedule
you wish. It takes only a minute!
6. What
if I want to block all use of "Instant Messenger" (and MySpace), even
if only for a day or so? No problem. Go
to the "Parents Master Controls Menu" and click the "Block
All Access" button. Then nobody can use "Instant Messenger"
(or MySpace) until you turn off the "block"! Or go to
the Scheduling Screen for any child, and block access for
that child alone. It's that simple!
7. What
if my kid fools with the computer's clock? Will this change
his "allowable time"? No! Your children
can not interfere with the schedules you set for "Instant
Messenger" use, even if they mess with the built-in clock!
8. Is
there any way that my kids can remove "I.M. Control" from
the computer? No way! Once "I.M. Control"
is installed, it's doing its job every time your kids
begin to access "Instant Messenger". The only one who
can remove "I.M. Control" from the computer is you
(the parent)!
9. What
if my kid forgets his special password?
When needed, you can go to the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS
Menu" and enter a new password for any of your kids. (Only
the parent can do this.) But please tell your kids to
remember their passwords!
10. What
if I forget the Master (Parent) Password?
The "Parent Password" must be available ONLY to the parent,
so there is a simple but specific method to replace
it if lost. If you do lose your
"Parent Password", simply email us at: TechServ@Imcontrol.net
with the buyer's name, registration code
and the last 4 digits of the credit card number
applicable to the original
purchase of the software. If the above information is complete and
accurate, we will email you a temporary new Password to
allow you access to the "Parent's MASTER CONTROLS Menu",
from which you can change your "Parent Password" as desired.
To protect
the security of this critical information, this is
the only way to replace a lost Parent Password. (There
is no charge
to replace the Parent Password, but it's a good idea
to keep your password in a safe place… just in case
you forget it!)
11. As the “parent”, how can I gain access to “Instant Messenger” for myself? Simply double-click the bright yellow “clock icon” on your desktop to view the “Instant Messenger LOGIN Screen”. Then enter your complete email address as the “User Name” plus your special “Parent Password”… and you’ll have uninterrupted access to “Instant Messenger” for as long as you like!
12. What
if we get an "Error Message" while using "I.M. Control",
or if the computer screen "freezes"? We've
gone to great measures to avoid such problems, but with
computers, odd things happen. We found that the easiest
way to get around "error messages" and other incidental
problems is to simply shut down the computer, wait
30 seconds, then restart it. This will usually take care
of all such problems. If not, then please contact Technical
Service at the email address below.
13. What
if I don't see the small icon in the lower right of my
monitor? How do I get to the "Parent's
Master Controls Menu"? Simply click the "Start" button,
then "Programs", then "I.M. Control", then "Parent Controls".
Then enter your "parent password" in the login screen
that appears, and you're there!
14. What
if "I.M. Control" does not work on my computer as it
should? What can I do? First, read carefully
through the "I.M. Control" USER
GUIDE and FAQ
sections to be sure you are using the program correctly.
If your problem still persists, please contact Technical
Service at the email address below. Should your problem
relate to the software itself, you may be entitled to
a full refund. But more often than not, Technical Service
will answer your questions and resolve most issues.
15. Which "instant messaging" services does "I.M. Control" manage?
AOL Instant Messenger, AIM, AIM Express, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, Netscape Messenger, ICQ, Trillion and Jabber. "I.M. Control" handles them ALL! And now "I.M. Control" handles MySpace too!
16. Which "operating systems" are compatible with "I.M. Control"? "I.M. Control" works with all PC platforms running Microsoft Windows XP. It is not compatible with Linux, Macintosh or Apple.
17. How do I locate my “registration code”?
First, check the email sent to you immediately after your original purchase of “I.M. Control”, which listed your “registration code”. If you are still unable to locate it, proceed as follows.
Simply click the special link below to view our "Registration
Lookup" page, fill it out and submit online, and we'll send
your "registration code" to your email address on record.
Please remember whenever entering your registration code to
either "cut & paste" it directly from our email (with no
extra spaces) or to type it exactly as shown.

18. How
do I reach Customer Service or Technical Support? You

and expect a reply within 24 hours. To receive FREE technical
support, you must be able to provide the buyer's name and registration code applicable
to the original purchase of the software. So please include
